Mitsubishi has released the first images of a near-production Lancer Evolution X. The pictures are labeled as a "design study", but the car that we will see this fall at the Frankfurt Auto Show will look pretty close to this version.
Mitsubishi displayed the Prototype X at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year that was meant to give a glimpse of what the new car will look like. This new version has some differences compared to the concept version. The car has a new grille, foglights, mirrors, more detailed taillights, slightly modified headlights and different wheels. Other than that this version of the Lancer Evolution X remains very close to the concept version. This is not the final production version of the car, so the company could still make some modifications before it is released. We are still waiting for pics of the interior and the final engine specs.

i don't no if ya remember a kid took one of the bottling companies to court because he collected 1million bottle rapers to win a f22 rapter well needless to say he lost and the company got a slap on the hand for false and ridiculous advertising, your comment on a cardboard f22 reminded me of this. i like the look of the new lancer it might be slow but it looks appealing to the ricer crowd witch is where the money is, anyone that is looking for a car for the performance usually donut car looks like as much as how fast it goes, Me i will stick with my 06 Z06, and M3 for the "Daily driver". ohhh cant wait till the new M3 comes out looks like a loot of fun.

ok i changed my mind after studying the pics more i like the front end. the rear looks horrid and the sides are dull. well goes along with being slow if i am passing one of these i can admire the front through the rear view mirror.

Dave, have you seen the episode of Top Gear where they tested the new Z06? They put down a quarter-mile of gasoline and dropped a match... the Z06 was actually able to outrun the fire!

Uh, are you guys crazy? You do realize that they're talking about the Evo and not the regular lancer? AWD, 300hp...this car is plenty fast. The base lancer is lucky enough to get the looks even though it doesn't have the HP.

the ricer crowd dave? how about people who likes to have a reliable car all year around, and traction on most road conditions. if anything you might be getting used to looking at the Evo's ugly rear end in the winter. but then again you probably take out your Mclaren F1 for the winter driving huh?

Yes Aaron. This is one of the most exciting cars in the world. Yes, a Corvette is faster... but only if you enjoy paint black lines on the road and make tons of smoke. If you prefer drive your car, drawing every curve, only in a few cars you can feel the same that the EVO.

i agree the vet is RWD and the lancer is AWD, and may seam fast to most people, i have owned a 500+ AWHP Vr4 and it was a very fun car to drive as well and was super fun to launch from a Dig. the car could pull .98 G on the skid pad bone stock witch is awesome but there is nothing like learning to handle a RWD monster of a car on the track. for the moste part AWD cars do not handle as well on the track as RWD cars. the evo is slow if lucky low 14's maybe even high 13's on the drag witch for the ricer crowd or the person that thinks this is fast may be a lot of fun to drive, i would never drive my vet in the snow, i avoid the rain why?? because i am anal about my cars. i still think it is dull from the side and has an ugly rear, if ya want to see a nice rear look at the 3000 gt VR4 91-93 i believe not what is hot piece of art. and i am going to download the top gear episode i have got to see that clip.
PS i live in TX we don't get snow here.

now boys start comparing apples to apples... the vet has more than twice the engine capacity of the evo and the evolution still has a 0-60 time VERY close to the vet... and as a matter of fact im sure on tarmac launching from 4000 rpm the evo WILL get off the line faster
now agreed the vet has a higher top end which is pretty much pointless... its how fast u can get there and how well u can control it thru a corner... something an evo DEFINITELY can do better since americans cant seem to perfect the handling of any of their V8 lumps
now if i were u i wud also have a look at the race between the evo mr vs the lambo murcielago(3 times the capacity) by top gear so u can undastand the japs still have what it takes with their amazing technology since we ALL KNOW that a vet cant so much as see a murcielago around a track

Good point Mouse. The Vette and the Evo are built for two very different purposes. The Vette is built to be fast on streetlight drag races and at a track - the Evo is built for rally racing.

while this is true dave at the end of the day the standard evo is still somewhat close to that one AND this is the old evo.. the new one is a whole different kettle of fish... it may not be able to keep up with a lambo but neither can a corvette
look at it this way... as i sed before the evo has 1/3 the cubic capacity of the lambo and 2/7 the cubic capacity of a corvette
id say the evo has something to boast about

Hey Dave, you dont have any clue do you?
If you average the 1/4 mile times from MotorTrend, Car and Driver and Road and Track, for a Bone Stock Evo IX MR, you get roughly 13.4 seconds, Obviously in the low 14's there. Oh yeah the Evo loves to be modified Take a $33,000 Evo go to Buschur Racing, Invest $7 into the car, and your at $40,000, you know about 15K less than a stock Vette you know that ugly 2 seater with a joke of a trunk, that will now seem Cumbersome Slow and unwieldy, and get laped consinstantly on a racetrack.
I have to say I expect with the Extra power and the DSG that the Evo X will likely run the 1/4 in the 13.0~13.2 second range. The real question is if it can overcome the added weight that seems to be coming down the pike. And handle as well as the old Evo.
