How Much Would You Pay for a 2008 Volvo C30?

Volvo is interested in the demand for its new hatchback that will be coming to the U.S. soon. Users have been able to build the hatch online for months, but without seeing the actual price at the end. Now Volvo has added the approx. price after the car is configured.

The interesting part is that the price fluctuates depending on when the user builds the car. Prices fluctuate from about $21-24k for the base and $24-28k for the fully optioned model.

Volvo is trying to determine what buyers will be willing to pay for the car and how many will need to be shipped to the U.S. The C30 is very different than anything else in their lineup, so the company is trying to make sure they will have the right mix in showrooms.

So what would you pay for the car? I think its a very cool car, but I would not pay more than $28k for the fully optioned model. It shouldn't cost more than the VW GTI.

Hot Car!

CHuico:

You would never compare a Volvo to a VW. VW young people with not so much money, and Volvo the scandinavian safety/technology for mature users. My 2 cents.

You get this car cheap compared to UK prices. You would need to pay £18,500 for mid-range model with 1.8litre petrol engine.

I'm interested but the advertising here in the US is a bit misleading. By the time you get a half-way decent model of this car with 'some' of the options you're $30k out the door.... That puts it closer to some other cars (infiniti) that have many of the options you 'upgraded' to as standard.

One thing that really annoys me is that Cruise Control is not STANDARD...

Carl:

In South Africa the Volvo is classed in the compact executive class. People mention BMW, Mercedes and Volvo in the same breath, but in the UK there are different perceptions - wonder why?
