Ford has officially announced today that they are selling the British company, Aston Martin to an investment group led by Prodrive founder David Richards.
The deal will close during the 2nd quarter of this year for $925 million. Ford is planning on retaining a small stake in the company for $77 million, which means that Ford will actually only receive $848 million for the company.
The new owners are: David Richards, founder and chairman of Prodrive; John Siners, an Aston Martin collector and backer of Aston Martin Racing; and Investment Dar and Adeem Investment Co, which is headquartered in Kuwait.
Hopefully this will help Ford a little bit this year...

Hooray!!!
This incredible marque was sold off to enthusiasts before Ford could totally ruin it forever.

Dear Niz,
Uh, actually, believe it or not, Ford really helped to boost Aston's reliability. Aston is still far more car than anything Ford produces, but AM had a terrible reliability record. Ford did help to turn that around -- big time!

It's nice to agree with two apparently opposing opinions

Now all aston martin needs to do is build naturally aspirated cars with racing technology to compete with ferrari 430 and the 599. This means Aluminum block, more than 100hp per liter and rataining character of an aston martin. it still needs to sound like one. the aston martin dbs is a step in the right direction. good job aston. lets just take it one more step. I know its capable, your race cars do it. Make a car like the race car that races in lemans and you got yourself a buyer. me.
Things not to mess up on when doing future cars for aston. Retain that unique engine sound, and keep that grill styling.
I just hope the 3 owners get along. I just hope that aston martin incorporates more of a racing dynamic into its road cars. dials moving in dif directions on the dbs confused me. stop that unless its part in arton history.
Aston legacy has value so its important to preserve that.
