The All-New 2008 Subaru WRX is set to be unveiled at the New York Auto Show next month. Well the May issue of Motor Trend already has the pictures of the car.
A member of the North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club received his copy of the magazine a little early and decided to scan in the pics.
As you can see the car looks a lot like the Mazda 3. The pics do not give any clues to engine size or transmission choices, etc. One new option will be a navigation system.
Sadly I hoped that the new model would have been a lot better than this. Kind of a let down. Hopefully the powertrain will make up for the underwhelming styling.

I was within an inch of buying the current STi in black... kinda wish I did now bcos this piece of crap makes even the current model look nice!

what are teh designers at subaru smoking?!?! this thing is a kia sephia with a subaru badge. ugliest thing ive seen in my life. at least if they were lazy they could have copied some thing cool like the infiniti g, but i guess that would have gotten them into patent troubles...

Maybe the guy that designed the horrible smilee face on the front of the 2004 Mitsubishi Magna (Aus edition) ot a job with Subaru. At least the release of the new model will bolster the second hand resale value on the older models - "sought after - pre 2008 WRX, before they got ugly"

I flew to the nearest dealer as soon as I saw the 08 WRX. I knew this was the "last chance" I had to buy an 07. I chose the STI in black. Asolutely no regrets. I feel everyones pain. Suggestion to Subaru- Scrap 08 and start over in 09.

omg!!!!!!!!!!!!! please tell me they are not serious with this wrx/sti models i mean i feel sorry for the people who buy it and then i feel even sorrier for the designer of this vehicle because hes going to be out of a job once they see they only sold 3 of them throughout 2008 stick with the 05 or 07 model but not this, this is just ridiculous seriously a wagon? what were they thinkin

wat is subarus designers thinking, they have made the impreza better from the first one to the 2007 Subaru Impreza, but this, this can't compare to the first impreza, the first impreza is way better. ill rather have the black 2007 impreza sti, even a 1991 Subaru Legacy is better then this shit

The truth is that i own the best wrx wagon there ever was, the 02 version, none of the rest can compete styling wise, Subaru needs to get back to their roots and be innovative about there designs again, the last thing they should do is copy other companies' styles, especially crappy ones like this

but all in all it's not the "wagon" that's an issue with me. i actually LIKED the 1987 GL or Loyal wagons. i thought they looked like dune buggies. and they jumped pretty flat too (i'ved jumped a couple off ramps, put the shockes through the floor boards in the back but it was fun!)
my favorite is still probably the 1997 impreza's. those things kicked ass. and with Richard Burns at the wheel, it's as a real sight to see... that car all sideways kicking rooster tails of dirt.

I agree, Subie's sold out to the American cookie cutter market ...ugly! I want to scrap my old Volvo, but not for new Volvo. Was seriously considering a Subaru Outback until I saw the 2008 up close and personal...WHAT happened? It doesn't even look like an Outback anymore...it can be any ugly American wagon...
