2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe Unveiled...but is it Better than the BMW 335i?

Infiniti is going to release the new 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe at the New York Auto Show next month. This will be the second generation of the coupe and with that comes a slightly different name. The coupe is going to be the first application of the the new VQ37VHR WEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) 3.7L V6 with an estimated 330 horsepower and 270 lb ft. of torque.

The G37 coupe also features a 4-Wheel Active Steering (4WAS) system, touch-screen navigation with XM NavTraffic real-time traffic function, rear view monitor, and an 11-speaker Infiniti Studio on Wheels by Bose audio system.

Is this better than the new BMW 335 coupe of Audi A5? It doesn't look much different than the current generation and it also looks like the new 2008 Altima Coupe.2008_g37_coupe_rear

Infiniti is one name in the car market that signifies comfort, style and perfect driving experience. Model were extremely attractive for it has built in with Airaid Intakes which style matters a lot for many car lovers and this is exactly what Infiniti range of cars would offer.

Baha:

the bmw may not win in a drag race but the overall performance and handling in the bmw are more than enough to crown over the g37. bmw > infinity

Infinity owns...

BMW better have something really good to compete with this. It not only looks better but the features alone make it more attractive to me...

Q45 and FX45:

when do peoples wakeup and realized the cost of the car is not important fact but the maintenance cost is the key, what's so good and special about BMW that is service more than you can drive or per half you on your special trip with family enjoining the day, suddenly your car decided to give you up in the middle of nowhere and now you need a tow truck hello wakeup people reliability. And one last thing just admit that BMW quality is slipping every single second

There's no question that some people prefer perceived prestige or status over reliability or running costs.

Personally, I think the G37 looks fantastic and I'm impressed with Nissan / Infiniti reliability.

IMO; it is way nicer than the BMW. :)

street infamous :

how many series does BMW has comparing to infinity lets not go there, honestly the G35/37 is one of best coupe on the street right now but no way no how you can compare infinity to BMW lets not even talk about the M series are you kidding me.

mjt:

according to the test results
bmw 335 0-60 in 4.8 sec
infiniti g37 0-60 in 5.4ser bg difference
also i raced with g35s which has the same engine as g37 and it is lighter than g37 and 335. still i rapped him, he couldnt even catch up from 0-200 .we raced several times to prove.
also when u buy bmw u get 5 year warranty and 5 year free service
infiniti u just get 3 years warranty, and if u want a 1-2 year service u have to pay, bmw offers 5 years service for free!!!
its simple bmw is the ultimate driving machine
335 eninge recieved an award as the best engine of the year 2007
also as u know m5 and m6 engine were awarded to be the best engine of the year 2005,2006

Dude the G37 is beta than the Bmw 335! Believe me I own 1.... And as far as M3 or M's whatever don't worry we have a all new GT-R and a G37 TWIN TURBO 500 HORSEPOWER that will knock any Bmw socks Off! rofl

You cannot even begin to compare infiniti (correct spelling) to BMW. Every car manufacturer out there almost, everyone has a car that was inspired by the 3 series. G (3)7 Mazda 3, Lexus is(3)00 BMW started the "is" designation in 1987 with the 325is. How many infiniti's were named after BMW? Let's see, the G(3)5, M30, M45, too many. Copied BMW's so-called ugly butt of their cars. A BMW engine is an organic powerplant that makes power by using knowledge gained through years of dealing with physics, friction, temperature, and the use of the strongest, sometimes most exotic materials. Not just reversed engineered in a desperate, japanese garage, allbeit a multi-million dollar garage. If you look at BMW's made over 20 years ago, they all have way over 200,000 even 3000,000 and are (still) selling on the open market. when is the last time you seen a 1980' BMW 3 series, or any BMW series for that matter. I'm sure it wasn't that long ago, and that 20+ year old BMW you saw was clean. And could fetch more than a newer (by at least 5 years) japanese car. Oh yeah, let's not forget that BMW has the highest resale value of any vehicle manufacturer, period!

BMW's 7 series' "new look" introduced a few years ago was a particularly ugly car with just unforgivably awful rear. for 7-8 i haven't gotten used to it. i would rather drive the cheapest korean car than this unprecedented bizarre creation. on the other hand, it took me only a few months to make the opposite turn for infiniti fx, from feeling a little disgusted to liking it but still being a little critical about its look (tailights really don't have to stick out that much...) my opinion about bmw 7 did not change even one bit. thank goodness almost everyone could see its "styling". i felt pity for our ceo - someone showing off in that car hadmust have had some major ego issues...

Do you work at a BMW dealer or something? Look on a used car site and compare the price of an '06 330i and an '06 IS350 and tell me which one is closest to it's MSRP. Also, BMW had to stick twin turbo's on their 3.0L to reach desired output (which they must have forgotten how to run with a turbo after all these years, with the whole oil cooler thing). Remember the G37 (whose moniker denotes the displacement of 3.7L, and is not a ripoff of the 3-Series badge, by the way) uses a naturally aspirated 3.7L V6 and makes nearly the same amount of power.

We've seen what happens when Nissan turbos that engine... 450hp in the GT-R!! But if you take a look at Nissan Japan's website, you'll see it's selling for about $66k (7.8M yen) base... not too far from a fully-loaded 335i, yet will leave even a 911 in the dust!

And as far as comfort, if you've ever sat down in a IS250 or IS350, it's no contest... those are the most comfortable seats ever.

Point is, get off your high-horse, BMW is not the end-all be-all maker of fine autos. :)

Actually, if you will check the Automotive Lease Guide, Infiniti has the highest residual value of all cars.

Killer Cars:

RICH SUCKS GO BLOW YOUR SELF IN YOUR RICE BOWL> I HATE RICE You keep talking and talking and talking what’s the fastest what’s this. Ask yourself one fing question what motor is in every top fuel car that competes at the very top speeds in the world in the 1/4 what motor was used that held the land speed record for the longest period of time? YEAH YOU don’t know CUZ YOUR RICE EATING BAGS THAT KNOW crap ABOUT CAR HISTORY YOU JUST FOLLOW YOUR RICE FARTING FREINDS. I’m so tired of every rice car WHAT I ask is WHAT original idea have they had. Lexus & infinity can’t compete on original ideas so let’s just copy cat cuz were to dumb to come up with our own original idea. The car industry is a lemmings industry “my mommy had this Toyota and it was so great” “my daddy was a gm man so so am I” cuz you can’t think for yourself. All you posters love what you own and if you were true automobile fans you would give praise were praise is due. Any car company that has the balls to put a 500Hp motor in a four door sedan has my vote any car company that leads and does not follow has my vote and if you argue that BMW is not that company your head is so far up your ars you will never see the light anyhow. Owed: BMW, Ford, Dodge, Toyota, GM, Buick, Nissan, Subaru, Chrysler, and a Porsche of cores.

Bimmerman:

Why all the hating on BMW....just pay respects. I'll admit that infiniti has some pretty good cars lately but BMW is another class all together. Nuff sed!!!
