2008 HUMMER H2 Tries to Fill the Void Left by the Defunct H1

Right ahead of its release at the New York Auto show next month, photos of the 2008 HUMMER H2 have surfaced. The super-sized SUV has a revised interior, exterior and an upgraded engine.

A 6.2L V8 engine will be the top engine in the new model. It features 393 hp and a 6-speed auto.

The front end has a slightly revised grill and bumper. The instrument panel and seats have also been revised in the interior.

So the new H2 gets a 6-speed auto, but the smaller H3 has to make due with an archaic 4-speed auto. Interesting... Also what kind of mpg is this thing going to get? I guess now that the H1 is dead, they had to come out with an even more powerful, gas guzzling version of the H2. I do like the interior though. Much better than the last version.

NotForMe:

Its for rich kids of all ages that never matured enough to not be the center of attention, regardless of the increased threat they cause from the additional imports of oil.

GM never could understand quality over quantity, and Hummer is the proof.

It would be nice to see a hybrid version of the Hummer. Perhaps a bio-diesel/electric?

It would be neat to see a smaller Hummer; H4 the size of the GMC Jimmy, H5 the size of the Chevy Sidekick. :)

It would be really neat if they did a fuel cell version of the Hummer; Hfc? :)

Wow, that's exactly what's wrong with the Hummer brand. People like you always want to turn these things into something they're not. Hummer released one of the biggest, baddest, most off-road capable vehicles to ever roll off an assembly line, then someone says "gee, lets make the thing even heavier by turning it into a hybrid, or even an underpowered all electric", thus taking away any illusions of off-road prowess. While we're at it, lets add a bunch of airbags, DVD players, maybe some 400lb 26" rims at each corner, you know, since the thing won't ever be used for anything but mall crawling. A Hummer wasn't meant to be the size of a Jimmy or Sidekick, it was meant to park on top of them. If you don't like that, why don't you BUY THE JIMMY OR SIDEKICK.
