Two New Hondas in the Works?

civic_typer.jpg

The Winding Road has posted two stories today regarding two future Hondas (possibly).

Honda Civic Type R (2010): Apparently they received an unofficial confirmation that Honda is going to bring the Type R version of the Civic to the U.S. in 2010. Currently this car is already being sold in Japan. The car would could possibly also receive a horsepower boost and a limited-slip differential. They will also most likely try to reduce the weight of the car to maximize its performance.

The current Si that Honda sells in the U.S. is a great car, but it is continuously outmatched by its competitors. The new for 2007 4-door has been a great addition, but we need more!

Honda CRX:For years there have been rumors that Honda was working on a replacement for the fun 2-seater. The last CRX was sold in the U.S. in 1991. With the new success of small sporty cars (Mini) in the U.S. the idea of reviving the CRX has been brought back to life. The newest rumor suggests that the next generation Fit could be used as the basis for a new CRX.

A design proposal for the new car is in the works and a decision should be made within the next few months regarding the car.

If they brought back the CRX I would definitely want one. I used to own an 89' Si. It was such a great car!

Jay:

Yippy Civic-R finally, why in the heck does it take so long? And why didn't we get a RSX-R in the US?

CRX? ROFL, that car sucked, why don't you bring back a new RSX with more HPs, and some luxury?

Zoons:

You want luxury? Buy a Mercedes..
A Honda is made for driving, not sitting in a sofa, driving up and down the main street in your city.

Hopefully the new R's will get some more HP throughout the band though.

Dane:

id rather see a new Prelude than a new CRX... the CRX was a good car... but it never had the iconic image of some of hondas other models. i also agree that bringing the RSX-R to the US would be an awesome idea so lets hope that Honda considers their different options.

Mike:

The CRX is most definitely an iconic image for Honda... they had huge success with the CRX Si... I still see a ton of CRX's around because not only were they fast and sporty for their time, but they were one of the most dependable cars I ever owned. I had both an 88 and a 91 CRX Si and really really loved both cars. Not to mention the HF model was one of the highest MPG cars for it's decade... even rivaling some of the hybrid MPG's today that cost more than twice as much.

Dj:

All I could say is: "Honda, Hurry up with that Civic Type R"

Dj:

All I could say is: "Honda, Hurry up with that Civic Type R"

mike:

please, hurry up and make the civic type R turbo all wheel drive.

harry:

i want a new celica

Ryan:

God why would honda make the type R a four door car? Four doors are lame. There needs to be some more coupes, NOT four doors.

Kinte:

4 doors are great if you do coo! things with it. i.e. suicide lambo the rear doors and normal lambo the front ones. ditto on the all wheel drive. and then slap supergreatness type R somewhere on it. maybe thats just me

fake:

I agree, the Honda Prelude/Acura Integra was a beautiful car! Bring that back!

I disagree with the 1st comment. I own a new '08 Accord V6 EX-L with voice recognition and NAV. It is luxury; and at 32K, that puts it as a near luxury car, and is in the price competition with the Lexus IS.

V:

ARe the bringing the Civic Type RR or the Civic Type R that doesn't have turbo........ Cause I dont want the civic type r that only has 210hp that the united kingdom has....

jayson marinay:

i like the honda civic 2010 very much, not only it but all of the honda cars that has been launched...
i hope i had on ene of it...
