GM and Chrysler working on Large SUV

Chrysler and General Motors are currently discussing the possibility of collaborating on a large suv for Chrysler. The SUV would be about the same size as the Suburban, something that Chrysler is currently missing from their lineup.

The talks have been going on for the past 6 months. A partnership with GM would save Chrysler lots of development money.

Why are they working on this? Aren't large SUV's on the way out? I think the Durango/ Aspen is large enough.
