The revised car features: a new grille, headlights, tailights and an updated interior. The car will also get the new audio system that is standard in the other two Scions (160-watt unit with iPod controls). They didnt make any modifications to the engine or suspension.
Unfortunately I have always thought this was a girl car or a car for anyone that does not care too much about actual performance. I'd much rather drive a Civic coupe than this car, even though it has less horsepower in the non-Si versions.

Wow, I really like the Tc's Camry engine, more horsepower and torque than the Civic, and even has more torque that the Civic Si, yet the Tc is $3000 less. Another thing the Tc has, 100% Toyota reliability, sportiness, and actually better looks than the Honda. Has anyone ever tried changing the oil filter on a Honda Civic? Don't burn yourself! Now, go look at a Scion's filter location, any Scion, not just the Tc. Look at a Corolla filter location, or a Camry. They are all so much more user friendly than a Honda product. Does Honda still use a timing belt? Toyota uses a timing chain on all it's 4 cylinder engines since the year 2000. These are things to consider when buying a reliable car. Hondas are reliable, but don't attempt doing routine maintenance on one...because you'll want to trade it for a Toyota/Scion.

So true. Toyota, Lexus and Scion are all cars made of such quality they pretty much will run forever. Now, if i can only get one of those Lexus IS-F

I'll preface this comment with a personal note: I am a Toyota Celica (95, ST, over 210,000 miles, of which over 150,000 is mine) owner. I have had narry a problem with my Celica, but recently the Toyota reliability has taken a hit with Consumer Reports....

The TC might have a good engine other than that it's really not worth buying. Hard back seats, lack of trunk space, and cheap feel and looking interior. If you compare the 06+ civic their quality and feature is there. I also like to mention that Toyota's parts are way too expensive, ie. windshield cost $900+, the O2 sensor is $500+, and the parts are hard to obtain; even parts place don't know what a "Scion" is. You will be getting what is that brand? Who makes it? Is it a Prius/Camary? Sorry, we don't have it. If they do it will be $$$$.
Honda have lots of aftermarket support and lots oem parts floats around the web because many people modify their car so parts can be found for cheap. And FYI, all Honda 4 cylinder have chain driven engines no more timing belts. Furthermore, Toyota quality have sunk to a new low. Look at the 07 Tacoma, you will find the topic "The truck accelerates faster when I tried to stop it" have been coming up lately. Also, TSB, and recalls are appearing like no tomorrow on Toyotas.

Jeremy, I am not even going to try to debate the subject of parts availability, since the Scion Tc has exactly the same engine as a 4 cylinder Camry, and the Camry has been the best selling family car in the USA for 4 years. I don't know where you buy your O2 sensors from, but you really should try going to Fleet Products or Auto Zone from now on, because you are apparently being ripped off @ $500+ for that O2 sensor.
Honda does have a lot of after market parts for the young ricer-boy crowd, but so does Toyota. Cold air intakes, exhaust systems, superchargers and turbos are all easily available for the Scion Tc, along with all other high quality Toyota vehicles.
About that comment about Technical Service Bulletins. I own an 06 Tacoma, 4 cylinder, and the truck accelerates very strongly, and have checked with Toyota about any recalls, The Tacoma had none. The only recalls for Toyota was the Lexus IS300, which was not a big deal. I would like to see Honda have such a good reputation, but they aren't quite up to par with the Toyota products...they need to watch Toyota and learn.

Georgenfla, I'm assuming that you are not talking about the universal type O2 sensor right? If you are, good luck trying to get rid of the check engine light when it comes on. Most new Japaneses cars comes equipped with non universal type Air Fuel Ratio (AFR) sensor which can be found for $400 plus unless you own a VW that uses the Bosch UGO Wideband/AFR sensor that can be had for a little as $60. When I mean non universal, the powertrain control module would not work/see the sensor with universal type sensors unless a specific one that is designed to work with.
For, some strange reason on the Toyota Tacoma truck, the 06 have no major recall/issues except the 07. I guess they tried to skimp out on quality (I mean the truck bed is already full of holes after u take off the plastic bed liners) and try to get away with it. But, I too own an 06 Toyota Tacoma very smooth truck, but will hate the price on replacement parts for that thing. By the way I'm a certified smog tech and master tech that works on variety of vehicles.

Jermy,
I've owned nothing but Toyota products since 1985, and have had no problems with any of them...that's why I buy them. One of your earlier comments about Toyota Technical Service Bulletins are appearing like no tomorrow, insinuates that Toyota quality is poor. I have no idea where you get this information, but I suggest you begin reading Consumer Reports Magazine for unbiased reviews, or even begin talking with Toyota owners. By the way, I am a certified ASE Master Mechanic. I work on vehicles 5 days a week. When I come home, I don't feel like working on cars or trucks, that's why I buy Toyota products...they're trouble free.

I own a 07 Tacoma V6, I have not had any problems as you suggest with the acceleration issue, I too buy Toyota b/c of the resale value, quality, and dependability. The Tacoma hands down is the best mid-size truck on the planet, do the research, a Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon..pleaseee !!!

I own a 2006 Scion tC with the stock Toyota supercharger (200HP) to customize and all that. Outside of the nice digital speedometer of the Civic, it was hands down decision to buy the Scion. More standard features and better value. Besides, way too many people own a Civic (which is BY FAR more girly than a Scion). Both car seems to be very reliable but Toyotas are better, in my opinion.
As long as it's not a Cavalier (a Cobalt is still a Cavalier!)...

toyota/lexus/scion has better cars than honda/acura in everywhich way i own a 93 toyota supra and a 2006 scion tc rs 2.0 edition with a supercharger, quicker shifter, performance clutch, trd exhaust, and trd intake and a civic si cant keep up with that and if you took a civic si and a scion tc and put all the mods you can in the engine the scion will come out on top with the 2.4 engine and the torque will be right there with it unlike honda k20a2 engines are terrible all ive heard from rsx owners say they were pieces of junk and got rid of them honda/acura has no competition with the scion tc or the toyota supra

wow...People, let me say something okay?
TC is good car. a good crusier. great daily drive.
Civic Si is good car too,
comparing TC with US civic Si is unfair. because
US, civics are garbage compare to Japan Civics.
but come on, if you looking for a performance cars, those two cars are not for u right.
both them FWD. and don have a stiff frame. just please don argue over performance, cuz thatz hella stupid.
TC is a great car for daily driving ^_^_~ my gf has one, i am loving it, but comparing to my Evo.. lol...that thing is pretty slow.
anyone agree with me?

I would suggest looking into a Ford for anyone looking for quality and durability. The company has made many strides to be number one in the car and truck market. The only obstacle is people's individual, biased opinion of Toyota or Honda. Ford's comfort, customer service, and quality has had me glad I gave up my Toyota and Honda about five years ago. I have not had any complaints and have heard none from any Ford owners. Anyone looking into a new or used car should do themselves a favor and at least look at what Ford has done lately. It is really impressive.

I have a 08 Scion tC, the best vehicle I've EVER had!~! My dad is a car jockey so I've had the priveledge to drive and own over 50 vehicles before I turned 18. The tC is Scion's version of the Celica so if you liked that car*i have the gt and gt-s* you'll definatley like the tC. It is not a girly car, it's unisex. My husband and I share all three of our cars. If someone tells you it's too 'girly', customize it so you feel better about your manhood. I love Toyota products, you CAN find parts for them, maybe have to be special ordered but they're reasonable. The only thing that is spendy is the antenna, $40, not bad though. Anyone wanting a rare car with 29mpg on a manual, roomy, fast, and reasonably priced, I'd definatley get a tC.

I can't believe how you all fell for the toyotaCar. Supra, MR-2, IS-F is where its at. The tC is the ultimate mall cruiser. Every time I see one its female driven. 2.4L motor producing only 160 hp?.. WEAK! You almost need a supercharger.
The Civic Si is a 2.0L dippin out with 200 hp. The FG chassis is also far more refined.
Do the math.

And how much torque does that honda motor have? What sort of rear suspension? I will tell any of my ladies to go with the Toyota. I'm mean both of these cars are for chicks right? But really for a "performance" car the Si is a joke. At least the scion doesn't claim to be one and is torquey and has independent rear suspension.

I have an 08 Scion TC also, and for the money and the features this car has for under $19,000 in an automatic even is unreal. The performance is really good for only a 4 cylinder, I have had mine hit 100 mph quite easily (do not recommend on highway) Looks are super esp with added rear ped spoiler, I also added fog lights, which do enhance the look, and night vision is much better, and still have only about $19,000 totoal. I really love the TC only wish tires were cheaper for the O.E. Yokohamas

toyota makes great cars very rarely something goes wrong if something does like a check engine light its something simple like my gas cap was loose or i didnt reset the service engine light "change oil" when i changed the oil. anyone who says the tc is a girls car just think about it.. 160 hp 2.4 dohc loaded for under 20gs who wouldnt go for it? alot of people cant afford a 350z with 306 hp the scion is what you make of it if
